The 90-minute documentary "Soul of a People: Writing America's Story" premiered on the Smithsonian Channel and was nominated for a 2010 Writers' Guild award. It tells the story of a handful of people on the WPA Writers' Project in the 1930s, a story further explored in the companion book "Soul of a People: The WPA Writers' Project Uncovers Depression America" (Wiley, 2009).
