David Taylor is the author of the award-winning nonfiction books Ginseng, the Divine Root (Algonquin, 2006) and Soul of a People: The WPA Writers’ Project Uncovers Depression America (Wiley, 2009), as well as a fiction collection, Success: Stories (WWPH, 2008). His articles have appeared in Smithsonian, The Washington Post, Outside, Village Voice, The American Scholar, and other publications, and have received awards from the North American Travel Journalists Association and American Independent Writers. He also writes for documentary films that have appeared on PBS, National Geographic, the Discovery Channel and the Smithsonian Channel. Success: Stories won the 2008 Washington Writers’ Publishing House fiction award and was a finalist in the 2009 Library of Virginia Literary Awards. Taylor was born in Alexandria, Virginia. He teaches at The Writer’s Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
