David Ewing Duncan is an award-winning journalist and a best-selling author with six books published in 19 languages. He is the Director of the Center for Life Science Policy at UC Berkeley. David is the Chief Correspondent of the public-radio program "Biotech Nation", heard in 133 countries. He writes the "Natural Selection" column for Portfolio Magazine. His most recent book is Masterminds: Genius, DNA, and the Quest to Rewrite Life, named a Best Book of the Year by the SF Chronicle. His book Calendar was a bestseller in 14 countries. His next book is Experimental Man: Cell by Cell, One Man's Intimate Journey into Himself, due out in the fall of 2008.
David is a Contributing Editor to Portfolio, Wired, and Discover; he writes for National Geographic, Fortune, the New York Times, The Atlantic, and many others. He was formerly a special correspondent and producer for ABC's Nightline; and is currently a correspondent for NOVA and an Executive Producer for Smithsonian Networks, and a commentator for NPR's "Morning Edition". David is the founder and director of the BioAgenda Institute for Life Sciences Policy, a San Francisco-based nonprofit think-tank. He has won numerous awards, including the prestigious AAAS Magazine Journalism Award. He lives in San Francisco.
