Author of I Dont' Wish Nobody to Have a Life Like Mine: Tales of Kids in Adult Lock-up (Beacon Press) http://www.beacon.org ), a narrative nonfiction collection of sketches of many of the locked up kids I worked with over a 10 year period while teaching highschool in an adult county penitentiary. I spent 40 years working with at-risk folks in shelters, crisis centers, psych hospitals, rehabs, and schools. Many times the lives of the people I've ecountered have become the material for my various forms of writing--poetry, essays, or narrative nonficton stories.
