I studied International Relations at the University of California at Berkeley. After military service in the Counter Intelligence Corps I began my graduate studies at the London School of Economics and Political Science in the same field. Due to my religious inclinations I chose to study the effects of international religious institutions on international politics. This first book derived from my thesis led to a proposal by the Royal Institute of International Affairs to prepare a second book on the World Council of Churches and its social, political and economic activities in the international sphere. From this rather dry subject I graduated to gastronomical delights and books.
