Okay, so I haven't blogged for awhile and suddenly I'm blogging a book title? Uh, yes. While I was doing a million different things I discovered the most wonderful book. I'm one of those non-fiction authors who adores fiction and wishes she had the nerve to try it. Meanwhile, I admire other people's work.
I "met" author, Lisette Brodey, on Twitter. Social networking being what it is I've come a long way from my early Twitter days. I read about her newest book and the title intrigued me so I bought a copy. And that's when I found myself totally absorbed in Molly Hacker's life, friends, etc. Laughing out loud in public places became the norm. I'm never without a book to read wherever I am and this one became my constant companion.
My only complaint is that I read it so quickly that I wanted more. This book has it all and Lisette has a true gift. I was able to get lost in this book, to feel as if Molly Hacker were an old friend with a common complaint made about her: she's too picky when it comes to men. Her best friend at work is like so many people I've known and some of them even have that wonderful sense of humor.
As I read it, I found myself seeing it play out like a movie. If someone doesn't option it, they're crazy. It's a natural.
Lisette, I discovered, is also here in The Red Room. She's also busy working on another book. I'll have to content myself with reading her backlist until the new one is released.
I wish I had a tenth of her creativity. And the courage to write fiction. But the world needs fiction readers and I'll content myself with that as long as there are authors as clever and talented as Lisette Brodey.
