Hey guys, it's been awhile since my last post and I know some people are wondering what's up in my world so for the both of you (:p) I will fill you in on what's going on right now!
So first of all, thanks to everyone who sent birthday greetings they are were much appreciated! I am working hard to get in touch with everyone and thanking them so consider this my big "Gratzi" for all my intarwebz peeps
Secondly, I have a LOT going on right now. My absolute last comic book workshop is coming up on August 2nd, at 11am at the Manor Branch Library in Portsmouth, VA. This has been a wonderful experience and I am so glad to be able to help the Portsmouth Public Library with their outreach to teens and younger encouraging them to read and create.
Thank you to everyone who came out, thanks to the local press such as Hannah Seranto, and Hannah Woodland over at Portfolio Weekly for covering it in July and making me one of the "7 Must See Events In The 7 Cities" and the kind folks at the Virginia Pilot newspaper for their constant blurbs in the paper!
If there are any visiting friends coming to the Hampton Roads area, or any local folk browsing my forum here, the final one of the year will be as said previously, at the Manor Branch which is just behind the Woodrue Wilson High School. (from what I've been told! But I don't drive so if you are coming up best to go to
and mapquest it!
THIRDLY! Dragon*Con looms. I have been getting a lot of people who are finding me on the guest list going "HOLY CRAP YOU'RE ON THE LIST THIS YEAR?" Yes, it's the first time I have ever had my act together early enough to get in the program book and whatnot. Usually I call guest services a week or two before and ask for a pro pass. Anyway, I will be there with art monkey Logan Bennett (god willing but he's been more reliable lately so I'm going to trust him!) the lovely and talented Chrysta and Allie I will be easy to spot, just follow the crowd of lovesick fanboys getting uncomfortably close to Chrysta and Allie. :p Joanie will hopefully be with us as well, she's best known as the awesome costumer Ms. Mars on Myspace. I am hoping she'll stick with us for awhile 'cause she's awesome but this show does pull different people in different locations!
I am working like crazy and calling in debts in the weeks left to lead up to the show to have enough spending cash for all the awesome stuff I want while down there.
If we're lucky Nat Jones and his new girlfriend Genevieve will be there as well but I haven't heard about their plans to come down yet or not. Hope I see 'em! They're awesome.
FOURTHLY! Baltimore Comic-Con hits up the month after that, and I will be there. I have e-mailed about guest status. I'll be coming down with Kat, her fiance Luis, and probably Art monkey. It'll be less stressful 'cause it's just a two day show as opposed to Heroes that went on for three, and Dragon which goes on for 4!
And finally LASTLY! I have finally finished cleaning up my bedroom/office so I am totally getting back to work on various projects. I really want to sleep for eleventy billion years because I have been so all over the place lately but...
There is a lot to do today, It's "first friday" which means the big block party down on High Street. For those that imbibe, there's also free wine tasting. And then I have a free ticket for a local concert down here, the Crosby, Stills, Nash thing. It'd be rude not to use it, so I'll go and try to get some work done while at the show in-between sets. :p
Then tomorrow, there's the flea market, even though it's sucked since it's gone upscale and has become more of an antique fair thing, sometimes they have comics and stuff. So must pop in and say hi to all the neighbors and whatnot and do a once-around!
Oh! And I didn't win the redroom housewarming thing, sadly, but you know I did really well for all the folks I was up against. Thank you all for your support and your page views! And special thanks go out to Wing Girl. :)
Um I think that covers a lot of what's been going on in the last month or so. Onward and upward!
