When I was in college, my Creative Writing professor asked me to come to her office. When I arrived, she beseeched me to leave the engineering curriculum and become a writer. "You're grammar is an atrocity," she said. "But we can fix that. You have a special gift, use must use it." I didn't change my curriculum, but I did continue writing. Last year I dusted off the novel and re-opened the project to publish it by the end of 2012. I write, I draw, I paint, and I do math. I guess that's what happens when God builds you one way, but society pushes you another.
