My first book, Cop: A Novel has been out for 3 months now. The publisher released the sales rankings among their own authors and Cop was in first place for May and second for June, for their Kindle publications, outselling even books that had both a hardcopy edition and a Kindle edition.
The book received good reviews from both the San Francisco Weekly's Lauren Smiley and Dennis Bianchi in the San Francisco Police Officers Association Journal, a monthly publication (available only in print until 1 month after print date.)
Exact Sales figures haven't been released to me yet but I am confident that the July list will show Cop in first place again for OakTree Press kindle publicaions. A hardcopy edition is a possibility but no firm plans have been made as of yet.
Amazon sales rankings have been all over the map but today, Cop was at around the 5,000k ranking in the Kindle book store, placing it in the top 10 on the Kindle Books > Fiction > Drama category. I would like to see it ranked in the top 100 of the contemporary fiction list so if you are reading this and have not purchased a copy please, do, and let me know how you like the book!
Facebook advertising has been surprisingly effective, first adding to our facebook fanbase by 30% and resulting in an unkown number of sales, however I'm sure some books were purchased as a result, based on the peaking of the sales ranks during advertising campaign. The cost / benefit ratio seems reasonable.
Word of mouth is still our strongest asset, with my friends in the Law Enforcment community being the most vocal of advocates for the book. For this I am grateful.
