Daniel A. Hoyt's short story collection, Then We Saw the Flames, won the 2008 Juniper Prize for Fiction and was published in May of 2009 by the University of Massachusetts Press. His short stories have appeared in The Kenyon Review, Indiana Review, Meridian, and other literary magazines. He received his B.J. and M.A. from the University of Missouri-Columbia and his Ph.D. from the University of Kansas. He grew up in North Reading, Massachusetts, and he has worked at newspapers in Columbia, Missouri; Kansas City, Missouri; La Crosse, Wisconsin; and Binghamton, New York. Dan lives with his wife, Sarah, in Manhattan, Kansas, where he is an assistant professor in the English Department at Kansas State University.
