Waterstone's to open bar and restaurants

24.08.10 | Graeme Neill

Waterstone's is opening a new bar and restaurant in its Manchester Deansgate branch and a new café in its Cambridge Sydney Street branch.

Both venues, which open on 31st August, will be run by Elior, which operates the 5th View bar in Waterstone's Piccadilly branch. The two eateries will be known as 2nd View.

Roger Childs, Waterstone's operations director, said: "5th View adds immensely to Waterstone's Piccadilly as a destination for shoppers—it's one of the best bars in town, popular with book buyers and other shoppers alike. I am sure these two new cousins will be equally enthusiastically received, attracting both regular Waterstone's shoppers and new visitors to the branches."

Michael Audis, c.e.o. of Elior UK and Ireland, added: "We've based the concept on 5th View in Waterstone's Piccadilly, London, which launched in February, as feedback from there has been phenomenal; we are sure the people of Manchester and Cambridge will feel the same."
