I was just writing along - yes, bare minutes ago - striving to end this chapter so I can get to the next chapter which might be the next-to-the-last chapter of the book or - possibly - the next-to-the-next-to-the-last-chapter of the book. It's been that type of book. Plus, I've been paying attention to Louie-the-dog getting fed. A nice, large, raw steak cut into thirds. He's doing fine. Licked the floor clean. In fact, he's fed before the humans.
Well, blow me down (or, blow me up, considering the climax of the book) did not a new character leap forth like Athena (hmmm - not a bad name) and have her whole back story revealed in bare back-and-forth-ing of dialogue. She will be great for the *next* novel - which already has its plot. Shenanigans on the high arctic seas.
Who writes this stuff?
