Q&A: Seeing Your E-Books ClearlyBy J.D. BIERSDORFER Q.
How do I safely clean the screen on my e-book reader?
Gently wiping the screen with a soft, lint-free microfiber cloth should remove most of the smudges and fingerprints. You can usually find microfiber cleaning cloths at stores that sell electronics, cameras or other gear sporting an LCD screen.
A microfiber cloth can be used with e-book readers that use the black-and-white E Ink display, as well as most tablets with glossy color screens; they do wonders for removing fingerprint collections on the average iPad screen, for instance. Some companies also sell cleaning kits with brushes and solutions designed to work on e-book readers and tablets, but check the packaging to make sure the kit is actually intended to work with your particular device.
Whatever you do, however, avoid spraying the screen with household cleansers, abrasive solutions or other chemical cleaning supplies, as these can severely damage the screen. In case you accidentally set your e-reader down in a coffee splash or a jelly drip, you can usually wipe down the back of the device with a damp paper towel — but check your manual for the manufacturer’s recommended cleaning technique. http://gadgetwise.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/06/29/qa-seeing-your-e-books-clearly/?nl=technology&emc=techupdateemb1 (image) http://downloadsquad.switched.com/2009/03/19/google-makes-500-000-free-ebooks-available-for-sony-reader/
