Courtney Filigenzi graduated with honors from Towson University in 1998 with a major in biology and a minor in chemistry. She also studied sociology, death and dying and parenting. Her children's book, "Let My Colors Out," was written in honor of her relatives, friends, and friend's children who were dealing with their parent's diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
Courtney has also written similar children's books, dealing with children's emotions regarding death, their parents' divorce and for children of wounded veterans. She is currently submitting these stories for publication.
Courtney is also extremely interested in all things paranormal and spiritual, and has written a paranormal love story called Clover Doves. Clover Doves is the story of two souls, bound together in love, torn apart by life, surviving tragedy and pain to find one another again. This fast-paced, emotionally charged page-turner ends with a paranormal twist. It grips those who read it and draws them in with characters they grow to love. The entire manuscript is over 75,000 words and Courtney is actively searching for an agent or a publisher.
Courtney's children's books were greatly influenced by the work of Elisabeth Kubler-Ross. Through her studies, Courtney realized that the stages of grief often experienced during death are commonly felt during other difficult times in our lives. Music is also a great inspiration to Courtney, especially that of James Blunt. The blatant honesty and emotion in his music has inspired her to write from her heart and soul, rather than her mind. Courtney's adult fiction is influenced through her studies of paranormal activity, including the television show Ghost Hunters. Her spirituality is influence by the works of Neale Donald Walsch and Michael Newton.
