When I published my first book,''The Sunday of Things Real''(poetry), in 1984, Junimea Publishing House, Iasi, my country Romania had a totalitarian regime, ruled by the well-known dictator Ceausescu.
I was a young intelectual and I tried with all my efforts to remain free at least by my selection of the books I read (I always loved the anglo-saxon authors) and sure by my writing. Between 1979-1982 I wrote my best poem, the long poem ''Wall and neutrino''and I introduced it on this first book. But when the book was published I was very very sad, because my poem ''Wall and neutrino'' was 50% censored by the director Andi Andries and the chief editor Virgil Cutitaru. I knew they made a huge misstep for my future literary career, but such a situation did'nt matter for them as communist publishers, they only wanted to be obedient to the rulers...
I published the whole poem only after the revolution, in 1994 in Romania, and in 1997 at Minerva Press in London, and the integral version was included on the famous anthology ''The Romanian present day poetry'' by Marin Mincu or compared to TS Eliot ''The Waste Land''. I also have an amazing letter from the Penguin Books editorial department, in 1996, they asserted that my poem ''Wall and neutrino'' is impressive.
So the misstep of the publishing of my first book was due to my communist publisher and this act postponed my success as a writer with over 10 years.
