I’m a writer and a visual artist and my last artwork is my first installation, ''Selfportrait'', a good description of my destiny. Like Blake, Michaux, Sabato and other major intelectuals I was fascinated since my early youth by both literature and art. When I imagined this installation I thought that two elements could be very fitted to describe my dual spiritual adventure: my typewriter (I used it untill 20 years ago to write some of my best poems, like ''Wall and Neutrino.The Poet in New York'' (1979-1982)), included on the best anthology of the Romanian poetry made by Marin Mincu) and my copy after Vermeer's masterpiece, ''The Art of Painting''. That's why even my first novel, ''Esto's Lover'', is dedicated to a Ianus bifrons character, the famous Argentine writer, Ernesto Sabato. I want to express him my whole gratitude for accepting this project. I'm very impressed that at his age, 98 years old, he is waiting with great interest the Spanish version of this amazing story. The novel will be published in some months by a major Romanian publisher, Curtea Veche, which has the rights for Orhan Pamuk, Nobel laureate, one of my favourite writers. You may read below a short synopsis of my novel ‘’Esto’s Lover’’.  In March of 1975 the famous Argentine writer Ernesto Sabato (Esto), falls in love, at the age of 62, with a young physicist, Maria Rustin, 36, at the University of Buenos Aires. Their affair, an impressive story in this city of “el tango,” catalyzed by a touching need for communication, is facilitated by the appearance of a new device, the fax machine. During their heated correspondence Esto is surprised to find in Maria a potentially gifted novelist. He encourages her to write a book. Both lovers experience radical changes in their inner lives, as the affair progresses. After it has gone on, however, for several months Maria's husband, Daniel Rustin, an Oxford physicist (interested in teleportation and the effects of sound on matter), learning of it, decides to make it public. By the end of the novel he succeeds in moving objects with the help of sounds. The reader must discover for himself how Daniel accomplishes this and its effects upon a beautiful love story.
The narrator of the magic-hyperrealist novel is Maria herself, who describes actual events in the lives of well-known people in Buenos Aires, in her native region, Bucovina, and elsewhere in world history. She includes details regarding two secret societies founded in the Middle Ages to promote the life and work of Leonardo da Vinci. Their shadowy masters, Right Hand Circle and Left Hand Circle, move across the boundaries of time to instruct Leonardo himself and such modern masters such as Picasso, Dali, Brauner and Warhol. Under their influence subliminal messages are introduced into works of art. We learn how Left Hand Circle causes Leonardo to create the ''Mona Lisa,'' why
Victor Brauner loses an eye in Paris. We learn too of a crime committed in Bucharest. Finally, Maria must assume the role of private detective to reveal how certain agents of the Left Hand Circle in 1989 victimize her own childhood friend, Mihai Driscu, the well-known Romanian art critic. Secondary characters in this spectacular narrative include J. L. Borges, Astor Piazzola, Xul Solar, Henri Coanda, Victor Brauner and Ernesto Kahan, most of whom had been living, at one time or another, in a city where the soul of tango is itself a major character. Love, passion, mystery, art and music co-mingle as essential ingredients of this amazing novel.  On the last cover of the book the Romanian public will read the following short presentation made by my publisher Curtea Veche: A novel of ardent lovers, Esto’s Lover by Constantin Severin imagine, in the form of a diary, a love story between the great Argentine writer Ernesto Sabato and Aria, a ‘’shy hind from the Carpathians’’.Love, this overhelming speech at all levels, benefits under Constantin Severin’s pen by a writing released by all conventions, a ‘’Pan-lengua’’ where the ‘’voices’’ of lovers, in order to remain inseparable, refuse to be separated even by grammatical restraints.And because reading means especially identification, when you are reading Esto’s Lover you will live a love story as you imagined or maybe as you did’nt experiment since a long time. My Spanish translator, Anca Nitulescu, from Madrid, began to work for the Spanish version of the book. Untill now only a publisher from Buenos Aires, Sudamericana, seems to be interested by my novel, but with the help of Red Room and of my literary agent I hope to find major publishers from Spain,too,and from USA or Great Britain.  But my major dream and desire is to publish the Spanish version of my novel next year, when Ernesto Sabato, the major character, will be celebrated, on the 24th of June, for his impressive age, 100 years. God help us!
