My friend Laird and his family visiting last night. Predictably, both music and scotch flowed. He played us the three tunes he'll be performing before my reading and earned high marks from an appreciative audience. One of the songs is a piece we wrote together called "The Last Juliet". Love his arrangement.
Laird "opened" for me once before, playing at the launch of my supernatural thriller So Dark the Night a couple of years ago. A wonderful, magical evening and we're hoping lightning can strike twice.
Nursing a bit of a hangover today--man, that Islay Mist blended scotch is good stuff--but also looking ahead to the coming week with eagerness and anticipation. We've done all the promotion we can, local media and Facebook and posters, and hope to see a decent crowd at the reading/launch of my brand new western novel The Last Hunt.
