It's not about the money, it really isn't.
I want readers, millions of them. I don't care if they read my books without paying for them, I don't care if they purchase a secondhand copy for which I will receive not one thin dime.
As long as people are reading my novels and stories.
That feeling...that somewhere on this planet, someone right this second might be poring over something I've written, smiling or frowning at a certain passage. I love that. I've always believed that I'm communicating through my narratives, expressing my take on what it's like to be alive and sentient in the early 21st century. A unique vision of the world, filtered and distorted by my senses and experiences. We live in surreal and ghastly times and my work reflects that. I think readers who encounter my writing are quick to discover that aspect and appreciate it.
You see, we share similar fears and preoccupations.
Thanks to my blog and my page here on Redroom, more and more people are discovering my work, tens of thousands in the past 15 months. Hundreds have downloaded my occult thriller So Dark the Night.
I'm not tangibly richer for raising my profile but that is not important to me.
People around the world are reading and loving my work. I'm publishing it myself, bypassing the traditional process and the demeaning treatment it accords authors. I am in full control of my writing and my career. Never more productive...
...and never happier.

Very
Cool, Cliff!
Particularly if one likes caviar
Hmmm - I dunno. I'm after $$$$$$$$$$. And I'd just as soon have a lot of it.
The writing isn't a job, but the selling is.
Thank Goodness!
If it WERE about the money, I would either NOT write, or starve to death.
I have a very nice job. It pays for my habit.
But someday... SOMEday... heh heh heh...
