Oil spill, human conflicts and tragedies abound, it is hard not to be affected by
what's going on around us. I hope the world in its turning will find a better tomorrow.
About three weeks ago, I spoke to Karen, one of the owners of Mission Pie. She reminded
me how we first met--at Clarion Music Center, on September 14, 2001. It was open mike night turned memorial
service for the victims of 911. Many came because they needed to be with people and share the
sense of loss. After music and poetry we lighted candles and walked around the block in Chinatown.
We cannot light enough candles for the misery of this world. But if it is the best we can do,
let's keep the light burning.
