I discovered the joy of writing when I was 14 and have been writing ever since. I've never really attempted to get myself published other that entering the odd writing competition from time to time. I think it is time I change that. Red Room looks like the perfect sort of place I have been searching for to connect to this community. I love to write and have written a collection of short stories and am currently working on several novels. My first novel is nearly complete and I would love to get some honest feedback and direction from people who have been where I am now as well as possibly making some new friends.
Clive Barker, Stephen King, Neil Gaiman, Anne Rice, Harper Lee, David Mitchell, Maurice Sendak, Dr Seuss,
I am currently working on finishing my first novel, Book One of the Arizynthean Chronicles, a trilogy.
The Arizyntheans are a race of winged people whose responsibility is to guard the frontier territories from the armies of the King of Penn, an albino who calls himself Jah, meaning God in his native tongue. He rules without mercy and has an enormous army of dark skinned warriors called the Shagnahareem at his command.
The legend of a magical room created by four powerful witches eons ago has looped its way through the histories of all the peoples of the land and Jah wants it found. He has been searching for it for nearly 1000 years. The room was created to travel to different worlds and opens to other places on this world and would allow him and his army to bypass the Wastes of Nordak, a vast dead landscaped separating Arizynthea from Penn.
With the sudden appearance of two strange boys from another world the legend finds life again. Hundreds of miles separate the boys in a strange world full of strange beings and they must find each other and a way back home.
Book One is their story and tells of their journeys. It describes the friends they make and of the enemies they must defeat to reach their goal.
It is a story of two brothers, who despite their differences in the beginning, change and grow. The legends contain a prophecy about a man who will come from a distant place and save them all. Is Ethan or Elijah this saviour? or could it be another who has passed through the gates as well? Love is found and lives are lost in this story and a war is about to be waged across the whole of the land.
Also, I have written numerous short stories and some bad poetry. I am putting the short stories into a collection in hopes of one day publishing them and have entered the odd writing competition but as yet have not been sucessful.
I have several projects on the go including another sci-fi trilogy set in the near furture. More about this later.
Writing, trying to play guitar, running occasionally, reading, music.
