My short story, Salsa, is now up at Pif Magazine. This is very exciting news for me. For starters, it’s just a really cool place to get published. Not only does it have some great work in it, with a nice look and feel, but one of the beauties of a free online literary magazine is that you can send a link to everybody you’ve ever known, and even some you don’t, and they might actually read it. As opposed to a print journal, which while a satisfying artifact to have in hand, will cost dollars and only be available at limited venues. Maybe your closest friends will make a point to purchase it, but not so much the friends of friends. But the free, online literary magazine is a just one click away. The other part of this publication that was exciting is that it came after a drought of acceptance. While I had two really fun, neat opportunities to read my writing (once at LitUp Writers, and once at LitCrawl) in 2010, I didn’t have a single thing accepted, and not for lack of trying. I keep a little spreadsheet of my submissions, and it was a long list of stories without homes in 2010. So to begin 2011 right off the bat with an acceptance, and then publication, is still almost overwhelmingly good. It’s up for the month of February. I’ll probably go look at it every day, and maybe twice a day a couple times, to make up for the fact that it’s a short month. J Check it out if you are so inclined!
