Involved in athletics all my life, played football, basketball and baseball at Boerne High School, in 1984 I graduated from Angelo State University with a B.S. in Physical Education anticipating a career in coaching. However, previous experiences with youth ministry lead to a move to Fort Worth Texas to attend Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. While in seminary worked at the Buckner Baptist Children’s Home in Dallas housing abandoned and refugee children. Upon completing my Master’s Degree in Religious Education in 1987 I moved to San Antonio to assist my father with his practice in clinical psychology. In 1990 while in San Antonio completed a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from Our Lady of the Lake University.
In 1991 accepted a ministry position at Calvary Baptist Church in McAllen Texas near the border of Mexico. Within a few years after becoming licensed by the State of Texas as a professional counselor started within the church a non-profit clinic providing psychological services for families in need. In 1994 I began teaching as an Adjunct Instructor of Psychology at Texas State Technical College in McAllen. In 1995 began working with the University of Texas Pan-American Athletes, Professional Athletes and local organizations on peak performance and leadership development initiatives. In 1996 opened South Texas Consulting a private practice collaborating with psychiatrists, psychologists and psychotherapists providing psychological services for families. Also in 1996 established Stewart Executive Solutions, Inc. an Organizational Development Firm facilitating organizational and professional development initiatives in the health care, banking and entertainment industries.
In 2009 accepted the position of Executive Director of Stonewall Head Start, Inc. in Stonewall Texas. While serving as the Executive Director of Stonewall head start, Inc. in 2011 established Hill Country Counseling, counseling children, adolescents and families. Today I am actively involved in the Fredericksburg Rotary Club, Advisory Board of the Fredericksburg Boys and Girls Club, and Friends of Hill Country Memorial Hospital Gala Committee and collaborative initiatives for serving community families.
