Why No Change?

Reconsider, think differently, change, transform, transfigure…

Why is it we struggle so much with change? The things we want to do, we don’t. The things we don’t want to do, we do. There’s a power released in our life when we make a choice to change. It’s called grace. Grace is not released to enable us to continue in our iniquity; translated sin, defined as anything that displeases God. Grace is released to empower us to overcome our sin.

So then, what must we do to overcome? Repent! Okay so I’ve been doing that. Really? Then why no change? Often times, we sin and say, “Lord forgive me,” then go right on doing what we want to do finding ourselves back again at the "Throne of Grace" asking to be forgiven. No change at all. The power of God is released when we repent, its released to empower us to change. To continue in our sin, simply means we have not truly repented.

One of the Greek words for repent is “metamorphoo,” literally to have a metamorphosis. Reconsider, think differently, change, transform, transfigure… Repent means to be transformed such that the inward change taking place affects our outward appearance. Transfigured like Jesus on the Mount and Moses coming down from it out of the presence of God.

Real repentance changes every fiber of our being and every cell of our physical makeup. Just like the little caterpillar, every cell liquefies and changes it into a beautiful butterfly… New life comes and refreshing with it. God’s presence poured out upon our lives empowering us to live the life He always intended.
