Catherine Brady is the author of three short story collections. The Mechanics of Falling was the recipient of the 2010 Northern California Book Award in Fiction. Curled in the Bed of Love was the winner of the 2002 Flannery O'Connor Award for Short Fiction, and The End of the Class War was a finalist for the Western States Book Award. Her stories have appeared in Best American Short Stories 2004 as well as literary magazines including Missouri Review, Zyzzyva, Ontario Review, Cimarron Review, and Other Voices. She is the author of the biography Elizabeth Blackburn and the Story of Telomeres: Deciphering the Ends of DNA (MIT Press, 2007). Her most recent book is Story Logic and the Craft of Fiction, a book on craft that challenges rigid rules and considers instead flexible principles for writing fiction. She teaches in the MFA in Writing Program at the University of San Francisco.
