I don't know if I have a favorite Christmas. I certainly have memorable ones.
One shared with family and friends a few years ago now - springs to mind.
And because Chrissy loves this poem and remembers with horror the Christmas that led to it. (Even the animals were badly behaved - our dog tried to make her dog his bitch - they're both DOGS. Was ugly!) This little poem has become the traditional Christmas poem in our family.
Angel on the Christmas tree.
Christmas time is here again
Pick up the knife and count to ten
There's no light in my eyes
Hold the knife until the pain subsides.
***
Sparkling lights and twinkling stars
Tinsel, streamers, and emotional scars.
All come to mix and mingle on Christmas day.
The angels of death are watching us play.
***
Christmas time is here again
Pick up the knife and count to ten
Candy canes and mirrored balls
Blood drips down the painted walls.
***
Santa Claus and the freaking reindeer
Elves and toys and gremlins dare
all gather around the yule tide log
I wish that I could become a frog
***
Christmas time is here again
Pick up the knife and count to ten
Popcorn threaded on pieces of string
stabbing people is my thing.
******
Merry Christmas y'all!
