I believe we are in the early stages of worldwide peace. This belief began the first time I heard Barack Obama speak. I really don't remember exactly, but it might have been a report on his address at the Democratic convention. I was in another room, and heard his voice. I had no visions, nor great psychic swoon. Just a calm sense that peace was about to bloom.
I've never been particularly political. But I have found myself joining Obama's website, writing blogs like crazy. I joined different news outlets...Politico, and Huffington Post (even one from the United Kingdom), just so I can leave comments about how I feel Obama is a great man, and will be a great president.
There is an idea that at some point, the world will experience a great spiritual transformation, leading to a thousand years of peace. I think this idea is fairly old, and I do not recall the source, but I really feel it has something to do with Obama becoming president.
I don't mean to suggest all will magically be well with the world. As with any change, there will be upheaval. But the ultimate outcome will be no less than a peace unlike any the world has yet experienced. And it will not happen overnight. But it will happen. And we get to see it. We get to take part, if we so choose. At least the bare beginning.
Sure, I know how this sounds. We have long been wrapped in a cloak of self-focus, self-importance. But we know what this has brought to the world, a world tired of its own bitterness, cynicism, but perhaps not knowing how to heal itself, or even if healing is possible. I believe it is.
