There are tens of thousands of combinations with which we create love stories. I am surprised at the unifying theme of the movie, Clint Eastwood’s historical fiction biography, J. Edgar (2011), starring Leonardo Di Caprio. It is, at its core, a story about the binding and enduring relationship between J. Edgar Hoover and his protégé Clyde Tolson. Their love story is memorable. The nature or presence of a sexual relationship is ambiguous and unimportant.
