One never knows just what will transpire when we veer from the road initially taken. I had written a couple of times about how I had the opportunity to buy back the home I had to sell due to my divorce. While I was writing about it, I was not too sure if it was going to happen for several reasons. That was back in 2007-2008 when the real estate market was sliding into a serious slump. However, in October 2008 I actually got the keys back to my home from the sweet couple who’d bought the house from my ex and me after our divorce. I wasn’t in a position to buy it then from my ex, and he, along with his new wife, had no interest in buying it from me, so once it was sold, I put myself on autopilot and moved, not once but twice, without getting that rooted feeling again. The third move, though, was the charm when I got back home.
Once I did, I claimed, refurbished and renewed what had been mine and my children’s. I have much more to do, but it’s quite often that I still find myself wandering from floor to floor in my old/new home, amazed how it all played out. Apparently, I’m not the only one since the producers from AOL Real Estate Moving Up Series liked my story enough to come to my home and interview my daughter and me. We had a great time and it helped me put into perspective how rare it is that we get these second chances to “Get Back Home.”
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Red Room in helping me share this story. Again, here’s the link to the AOL piece: http://realestate.aol.com/blog/category/my-next-move.
