My strange decision to enter NaNoWriMo 2008

Dear blog,

when I first heard of NaNoWriMo about a week ago, from one of the members of my writer's critique group, I thought gee, how stupid, just what I'm NOT about -- thoughtless writing.  But then, some strange force seemed to enter through my nostrils, and I took a big breath, and it began to seem, well, like it might be (shudder) fun.  Like a wine and chocolate party with a whole bunch of people just like me.

That was good, but still... not quite over the hump.  I mean... mindless writing? Come on, not for me. No way. The next few days I forgot I ever even considered it.  Until yesterday.  I began getting all sort of plot ideas for cool science fantasy stories...  Fun ideas, new fresh ideas that would be personally entertaining to write.  Must be magic! or Sci fi.  Whatever the force causing such coincidences, I've decided to join.  (1) fun party sharing joy, and (2) got a story to tell.  As you can see I'm warming up... see all the typos that I'm not bothering to corect???  Boy I cant' wait 'til this Saturday!!!  It's going to be hard to keep this story in my head until then.  I'll just wear a clothespin on my nostrils.

Holding off till Saturday

I'm right there with you. But with less will power, I have about 5000 words of notes, outlines, character summaries, etc.

And I'm always excited to see another sci-fi/fantasy Red Room member in on the NaNoWriMo fun.

And as one of the NaNo-emails (or was it on their forums?) said: November is for writing... December is for editing! :D
