This has been one busy week for me, not work so much but the act of picking out stuff for the new bathroom. The brother-in-law is a designer so I summoned him to be of assistance in the hunt for tile, marble and flooring. Oh my goodness, for two days now we have been walking the concrete aisles of many slab yards looking for marble. I'm fairly pleased with the flooring we found and some accent pieces that may have to be changed, but the marble hunt is making me a bit crazy. My friend Harri said that honed granite was the only way to go and she should know as her hubby and she are in part of that business. Yet, when you talk to various sales people they try to talk you out of it because of harder upkeep, blah, blah, blah. I decided I just wanted to look at everything and make up my own mind, but that hunt is massive. The first day we hit three places and on the last one I found a piece of marble that gave me goosebumps. I fell in love with it, but alas, there was not enough and it had been there for over four years and probably could not get again. We then hit upon the plan of mixing it but I just can't make myself do that, to take away of the beauty of the marble. So, on to the next day and three or four more slab yards. On the last one I found yet another marble piece that maybe I like, but not as much as the other, and there is tons of it. That is an option. Finished for the day I dropped BIL home and we go in to show his partner some of the stuff we have picked out. His partner then Goggled the first marble slab I loved, Opera Fantastico, and found all kinds of hits, maybe there is hope yet. We may have to call in some of our friends that are in the business to see about getting what we want, with some discounts if possible! Sometimes it is who you know. Let's just say my feet are killing me this morning. Have to take a break from the concrete floors for the weekend. There is always next week!
