I grew up in the south, spending my formative years in small towns and suburbs throughout North Carolina and Florida. I studied history and political science at Florida State University, and planned on getting my PhD before I decided that I didn't want to have a real job. So I started writing.
Now I live in a small town in Northern Michigan, which might as well be Mars for someone so accustomed to living in swampland. I spend my days writing and watching baby ducks grow up in the pond behind my apartment. It's a good life.
