Often times people book properties on-line and give personal information very freely. Case in point, yesterday I met with a couple who were in a huge rush to book something on a month-to-month basis. It seems that they had wired over $3000 to a company that didn't exist. They thought they had done their home work. They checked to make sure that the property they were renting was real, and it was. However that's not always enough. What the scammers are now doing is taking information from legitimate real estate or vacation rental websites and inputting their own contact information. Luckly for this couple the wire didn't make it through. Can you believe the guys that were trying to scam them actually called and asked them to re-wire the funds!!
On another note....its rainy in Honolulu today. Waves on the North shore are over 20 ft. Too big for me but the south shore has an unusual winter swell coming in at a manageable 5 ft.
