Cal Orey's Biography
Member Info
Cal Orey, a native Northern Californian, is an internationally renowned journalist-author who uses Mother Nature and Lake Tahoe as a backdrop to pen several books/hundreds of articles for national magazines. Her best-selling books: The Healing Powers series: vinegar (2nd edition; 13th printing), olive oil, chocolate, honey, and a forthcoming surprising superfood. Also she wrote 202 Pets' Peeves, Doctors' Orders, and The Man Who Predicts Earthquakes (2nd printing). She holds a bachelor's and master's degree in English (Creative Writing) from SFSU.
In her down time, Orey is a phone psychic who works for an international network and uses her intuitive gift.
Influences
Chocolate! Just kidding. Not sure what to insert in this box. Influences? Former professors? Fave authors? Mother Nature? (Lake Tahoe is my muse.)
Upcoming Works
My new book The Healing Powers of Chocolate (published by Kensington, Dec. 29 2009) is now part of a book trilogy: The Healing Powers of Olive Oil and The Healing Powers of Vinegar (translated in more than 15 languages). Good news! Yesterday, I discovered that One Spirit Book Club (and some of its sister book clubs) has accepted this book (as it has my vinegar and olive oil tomes). I am honored, happy, and this calls for a dark chocolate celebration!

Films, writing, eating-cooking gourmet food and taking healthy shortcuts to do it, my companion animals, reading, predicting Mother Nature (quakes, tsunamis, weather).
