It has been a while since I stopped by
And for that I am sorry, indeed, yet I shall not cry.
My trusty steed and I have traversed this great land of ours,
And along the way, we have both, yes indeed; we have both lost some hours.
I have much to say and seek from the ol’ monk, of whom I often ask of advice,
But of this time, I shall not beg, nor of him, ask twice.
I assured myself as we galloped ever towards the hill,
All in an attempt to keep up my will.
You see, I have been away for awhile,…well, more than a bit,
For each time I come to him, within me, that is what I am hiding, he is able to hit.
We moved a stride or two more, and there it came into view,
There it was, up atop of the hill, I stopped for a moment, I knew what I had to do,
I needed to come once again, and seek his advice and obtain his direction,
Perhaps it is indeed simply that, or…. perhaps a bit of fatherly attention.
I dismounted from my horse,
Just trying to work out my thoughts…Oh!....Of course!
I laid down there for a moment,
I do not want to be his sparring opponent.
I recalled all the times we have chatted in the past,
Who knew, well over all these years, it would last.
It did, and I had… soon a smile spread across my face,
I dropped my head, for when it comes to dealing with that ol’ monk…I knew my proper place.
Uhhhhmmm! I sighed for I felt this was, once again right, indeed it’s correct,
I once again was about to mount my steed, and with the ol’ monk what else could I ever expect.
We then just sauntered over to and up the hill, and make another pact, you know a deal,
I need to come, seek his advice, and perhaps a bit of consideration…mmmm, perhaps a little wine and a meal.
I came up to the massive door, and pulled upon the rope attached to the bell,
Just what time it was, I could not tell.
Within a few moments, the door began to open,
This was the beginning for all that I had been hopin’.
I greeted the brother and asked for the ol’ monk, he smiled, another took my horse, and said:”follow me”,
And then there were three.
Till our spiritual eyes meet again!
