Hello my spiritual friend,
As we migrate towards a clearer grasp of “pneumatology,” may I say it is, perhaps for some, as though you migrate up the top of an “A” framed ladder, and are somewhat comfortable, provided you have the top ledge against your shins.
Ah,…my friend, this is when you must step another step of faith, allowing you to reach and touch with your finger, which is just inches away from His, as depicted in the painting upon the Sistine Chapel.
What’s that you say….Can’t do it, you contend. Hmmm….very well let me express it this way.
The difference from meditation to contemplation is the same as if you were to view and study an orchestra from a picture within a magazine or book. Oh yes, it can be a panoramic view…as indeed it should be!
Now then, you may well see all portions all arranged into groups, sprawled across the stage. Oh yes, they may be any Philharmonic Orchestra you choose them to be,… no matter. And who are they?.....Good Choice! Now scan the picture won’t you. Are all members there? Is the conductor of an excellent caliber? What about the individuals who claim the “first chair” positions? All is top notch? Excellent!
Now then tell me what do you hear them playing? …. What’s that…you don’t hear anything?....I am sorry! Forgive me, for you were simply mediating, that is, just observing and analyzing all the various attributes, you are not there as being in the picture, that is you are not at a live performance.
You see, when you are there listening to them, at a live performance, you see with your eyes, far more than what the still photo caught, which is only a glimpse of a larger session/ experience, while at the same time your ears are being caressed by the sounds which exude from the finger tips of its player. Your body feels the impulses as the sound waves rush through your body quaking and swaying to the beats and rhythm of the music. Your imagination places you where-ever you desire.
This, my friend, is the marked difference between the two. For it is the same as you ascend up to the top of the “A” frame, you have no other support, your body quivers and shakes as it become immune to the new sensation, settles down, and finds its rightful balance atop its previous steps, which we call a ladder. Go now, and experience it for yourself, and encounter “Pneumatology.”
Peace,
Bro Smith SGS
