Moments Like These
Hello there my spiritual friend,
Tis the season that so many both experience and a succumb to the numerous events, which either press in upon us thereby diminishing all that we have garnered or propel us to such heights achieved only rarely.
Sadly and so often, I am made aware of these events as they bombard numerous individuals. This is because “Life” tasks us with events whereby we are confronted with choices, experiences culminating in consequences and rewards.
Understandably, I have repeated this in previous notations; this is because it’s symptomatic. What is essential is in addressing this issue; we need to ask what is the etiology?
If it’s guilt, this causes us, sometimes, to perform irrational things, while other times, not only repentance but actual change. If it’s glee, or perhaps both once again we are, more importantly, to accept both with thanks and respond appropriately.
Now by appropriately, I infer that we allow the benefits of either activity to not only help us recognize the intent but also required outcome from us. This is not to suggest a bartering scenario, I am merely pointing out a need to be willing to accept what is indispensable, if we are to move ever closer towards God.
I am neither suggesting that we are to suffer for God, as penitents did in the Medieval Era, nor as though He were a one-armed bandit, just waiting for you to pull upon Him as your need arises. For a real and true relationship is quite different. One is not to be used nor abused.
My spiritual friend, we are to avail ourselves, with discernment regarding all the activities which impact our lives. Should we not examine these events how can we see the ‘Hand of God’ in action? Take the time, examine these events; seek the constants, recognize the variables.
