In my early 30's, I've been writing a strange blend of Horror and Urban Fantasy now since 2003. I've self-published multiple books, my failed attempt at Art School coming in handy when designing the covers and doing interior illustrations. I describes my work as having a "Post-Mythic" genre element, a modern take on mythology, cultural legends and religious lore. Currently, I live in Ohio with two cats that are probably plotting my doom, and survive primarily on a diet of coffee & cigarettes. If I'm not hammering away at my keyboard, you'll most likely find me covered in paint and swearing at a canvas.
Clive Barker, Anne Rice, Piers Anthony, Kim Newman and Brian Lumley were some of my earliest influences along with Warren Ellis, Grant Morrison, Alan Moore and Garth Ennis. As I identify my work as "Post-Mythic," I spend a lot of time studying and contemplating mythology, cultural legends and religious lore. Both visual artwork and modern music are essential elements to my writing. Dave McKean, Alphonse Mucha, Natalie Shau, Gustav Klimt, Russ Mills, JW Waterhouse, Lori Earley, Egon Schiele and HR Giger have influenced me just as much as Sigur Ros, Ani DiFranco, Thrice, Massive Attack, 65DaysOfStatic, Murder By Death, PJ Harvey, AFI, Peter Gabriel, Tool, Bloc Party, Tegan & Sara, Alkaline Trio and The Catherine Wheel.
In the summer of 2010, I'll be releasing New Editions of my books from a new publisher. My short story collection "Fragments Of Ruin" has been scaled down to the best 40 tales, while "Further Than Fate" will contained four re-worked & extended novellas. My stand-alone novel, "In Bleed Country," will now have interior illustrations as will part one of my Godlings Trilogy, "Petty Like A God." The chapbooks have been reformatted so that "... And If Eternity Failed You" is entirely romantic realism, and "Our Sketches & Echoes" contains 22 poems.
Once I've finally completed all that, I'll begin work on a drastic re-write of my novel "Between Us And Oblivion." Now concentrating more on the town and its history than the characters, it will be retitled "A Familiar Oblivion."
