We live in a time when self-publishing has become a means to an end. I really believe in my work and my words; therefore I put them into print - If you write it, they will come. I am still waiting for 'them' to show up. Don't get me wrong, I'm not slowing down on the prose, the novels are still being churned out, the messages still being sent, and my zeal is still strong. BUT I think I might reach more people if I had an agent and a large publishing firm behind me (at least that's what THEY say). So, I 've sent out manuscripts - the first thirty pages, the first three chapters, the first hundred pages, whatever that particular agency requires, each time to receive the same response: "Although we like what you've written, we don't handle this particular type of fiction." Well of course they don't - no one else writes this particular type of fiction!
This puts me in the precarious situation of posing a general question to the abyss of the 'red room.' Does anyone have a really good agent that is interested in taking a chance?
