Received a very nice reply to an email I wrote to the book editor of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Karen Long, who was on the NPR radio show I called in to yesterday (see yesterday's post). The PD puts all of its children's book reviews into a sort of "salon" page in the Sunday paper. Reviews are tied to publication date, so Escape From Goshen, which I published in March 2012, is out of the running unless it wins, "say, a Pulitzer," Long wrote.
I submitted EFG not for a Pulitzer, but for a Sydney Taylor prize from the Jewish Librarian's Association. Turns out those winners will be announced at the end of this month. I feel like I just received a Jewish telegram: "Start worrying. Letter follows."
