I started to place this photo in the "Sea Poems Gallery," but the words "Random Molecules" just seemed to fit this photo--somehow. These are my favorite trees in Carmel, California. Most trees in Carmel have been twisted and bent by the force of the sea winds, but these I call the "running trees" because that's how I see them. Whatever these trees are doing, I love them. To me, they look funny, a bit disorganized, strong, and determined, all at the same time.

—Paula Meehan, Irish poet, her comment on the back of Roberts's first collection, To Hide in the Light.
