Chekhov Melancholy, Never So Welcome/NY Times
Blog Post by Bob Mustin - Dec.02.2012 - 8:22 am
Anton Chekhov, the pre-revolution Russian writer and playwright, remains relevant, I think, not for his technical innovations in the craft of writing, but because his characters are complex love-'em-and-hate-'em types. His work wasn't always easy on the reader - or the viewers of his plays - and neither is life. It's good to see a revival of his work on the NY stage.
We are all apprentices in a craft where no one ever becomes a master.
