Writing last week’s blog, I turned to Google to learn when that Dylan-Petty concert had been. In the process, I spotted a two year old inquiry on a related message board from an e-mail address linked to an institution of higher learning in the Atlantic Coast Conference. It asked for information about the tour, especially sites and dates. Always eager to advance scholarship, I answered that if the need still existed, I would check my t-shirt. (I also wondered how it would be footnoted.)
"That would be awesome," an Isis P________ (Not her real name or initial or, for that matter, conference) said. "I’d really really like to know about November and December."
Unfortunately, my shirt stopped August 1 (Vancouver, B.C.). When I broke the news, suspecting that a doctoral dissertation did not hang in the balance, I asked where her interest lay.
Isis replied that she never known her father, and when she asked her mother, all she would say was, "It might have been Bob Dylan" and tell again about the evening she and a friend had entertained him and Tom. "I’m not crazy," she said. "I’m just trying to figure out a funny possibility. I suppose it’s a far cry, but you never know, especially when your mom was like my mom, haha!"
She had attached pictures: two of her and two of Bob, one circa BIOGRAPH and one early Greenwich Village. She has blue eyes and straight blonde hair that falls below her shoulders. There is a resemblance in nose and mouth and eyes. "Thank God she got her mother’s hair," Adele said.
Oh yeah, the tour was called TRUE CONFESSIONS.
