Bill Raney's Biography
Member Info
Grew up on the Great Plains, moved to the Olympic Penninsula, where I learned to love mountains and boats; Reed College 1954-56, where I learned Greeks; Beatnik in North Beach 1957-67, where I learned to love my first wife and get into "show-biz" as a motion picture exhibitor; founded the Nickelodeon Theatre in Santa Cruz, California, in 1968, foreign films, art films, independent films, etc. During the Vietnam War my first wife and I, and our dog, bought a VW bus in Germany and drove it around Southern Europe with our ten-month-old baby, Zerky, and then across Asia, to Burma. Said trip gave me the raw meterial for my book, which is now in the process of being self-published by Nickeloeon Press. My latest job is to learn how to sell it.
