Hi All, My friends are beating me up to write something here so I guess it's time. I've always said being a jazz musician has taken me to places I would never have gone to. July is a good example both ends of the spectrum. July 15th, I played at Yoshi's San Francisco with the Dick Conte Trio. July 27th at San Quentin Prison with the Bread and Roses program, an organization that arranges musicians, artists, writers to donate their time for various venues. My series character, Evan Horne, the jazz musician-reluctant detective, will no doubt play Yoshi's and probably visit San Quentin in some future book. That was quite an experience! This Friday August 1st, is another unusual gig at a jazz bookstore some of you may know about. Bird & Becket. Bird for Charlie Parker; Becket for Samuel Becket. I'll be there with bassist Don Prell's trio 5:30-8pm. It's on Chenery in the Glenpark area, so come on by and say hello.
