Betty Sleep's Biography

Member Info

New Brunswick
Jan 2008

I have been a freelance writer for over 30 years, a career that has taken many interesting turns through a combination of family life and the advancements that technology has brought.

Besides my books "Ten Minute Trivia" and "Purrlock Homes and the Case of the Vanishing Valuables", my work has appeared in such publications as The Atlantic Advocate, The Uncle John Bathroom Readers, and the Ultimate Dog Lover's Book.

While my profession means I spend most of my time editing or writing non-fiction, my passion for writing shows best when I have the opportunity to delve into mystery and humour.

Influences

I was privileged as a youngster to be taught by some wonderful and patient people. My first book was dedicated to Louella Young, my grade six teacher who fanned the flames of creativity and told me I *could*, and Cecil Porter, my high school English teacher who spent much of his own time fostering my love of reading and writing.

I also dedicated that first book to my father, Arthur Ash, for teaching me that to laugh, is a wonderful thing. We shared the same sense of humour, which has been an invaluable gift in my writing.

Upcoming Works

"For the Love of Leah", published in the Ultimate Dog Lovers Book, HCI Publishers, Release date November 2008
