Some Things Never Go Out of Style
By Bernadette A. Moyer
Some things never go out of style and are appreciated today like they were long ago. One of the greatest parts of Officiating weddings is meeting with so many young people. Most of the couples I marry are in their late twenties and early thirties.
Yesterday I met with a couple and the brides mother. When I hear things like, "the groom asked the parents for permission to marry their daughter." I am thrilled that old fashioned values and virtues are still present in the lives of young people.
Doing what is right, is what we do for ourselves. This young man is already setting the ground work for a respectful and respected family relationships all the way around.
We talk so often about a generation without boundaries or respect, we see it in the news. But truth be told there are some really great young people out there who know that it is important to show respect. Respect for themselves, respect for their bride to be and respect for the family that birthed and raised her.
Starting a new life together and starting it with proper footing and being well supported as a result, certainly goes a long way to a happy and healthy marriage.
And being respectful is just one of those things that will never go out of style!
