French aviator and writer Antoine De Saint-Exupery said it best, “The meaning of things lies not in the things themselves but in our attitude toward them.” Visualize a clear mental picture of yourself with a positive attitude. You can adjust your perceptions about what happens to you. Look at problems as opportunities to grow. Know how to deal with those issues and with a positive attitude, get what you want and need. Stop spending time focusing on those things you did wrong in the past and those things you have no control over in the future. Improve your attitude now by focusing on the present. If you focus on the negative, it can have adverse effects on your attitude. When you have a negative thought it sets up a self-fulfilling prophecy. If you think of the worst possible outcome, that negative message will probably come to light. You mind is limitless. So, fill it with positive thoughts and be upbeat in expressing your mindset. Psychiatrist and holocaust survivor Viktor Frankl said, “The last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.” Those who are resilient have certain beliefs that help them to act a certain way. You are responsible for your attitude. It you want to find happy moments in your life, look for opportunities to show off your positive attitude. You will achieve the best possible outcome if you do so.

Amen!
Absolutely, Barbara! Here I am, running around like a chicken with my head cut off, trying to make everything perfect before I go on vacation: house clean, answer all my e-mails, blog on all my blogs :), register my car at DMV...pretty soon all the joy of the vacation is sucked out of me because I think, "Oh, I don't even want to go!" What a terrible attitude. I need an attitude adjustment and it came in the form of reading your wonderful blog. Thank you. Now, Aloha!
Susan, it sounds like you
Susan, it sounds like you have much to do before you leave on vacation. Life brings you great blessings - Family, friends, and a meaningful career. What your comment has taught me is that you can adjust your attitude and the way you think about what is going on in your life. It reminded me of a Kahlil Gabran quote, "Your living is determined not so much by what life brings to you as by the attitude you bring to life; not so much by what happens to you as by the way your mind looks at what happens." Your creative mind has enabled you to choose a positive outlook. It has also brought you to RedRoom.com where clearly not only the writers are . . . but where the postive, optimistic, and happy people hang out! Barbara Rubel, MA, BCETS, CBC
