Frights

As Halloween approaches, I thought I'd take a few minutes to talk about frights. I've been scared a lot in my life, but not necessarily by the monsters, ghouls, ghosts, aliens, and psychopaths in my favorite books, films, and TV shows. No, it's the art form's underlying ideas that I find so disquieting. In the titles that follow, these are the aspects that have stayed with me, kept me looking over my shoulder, and prevented me from getting a good night's sleep....
