Oprah Winfrey announces that she will end her show in September 2011. She will speak about it today and it’s something that astonished me. Oprah is a wonderful woman who has made a difference in millions of people’s lives in United States and internationally. She inspired women who couldn’t find ways to regain their self-esteem, children who have been abused etc… Stories are endless and her show is so great. Oprah has also helped Dr. Phil start his show. The Oprah effect has helped authors sell their books, increase the growth of certain businesses and promote products at a world scale.
Oprah was born Oprah Gail Winfrey, on January 29th 1954, in rural Mississippi. She has experienced hardships in her childhood and the thing that really shocks me about her story is that she was raped when she was nine years old. Sometimes, I just feel like crying when I hear her story because I just don’t have any words…
Hiw could someone do something like that to a child? You tell me about it!
She became pregnant at the age of fourteen and her son died in infancy. In the mid 1990s, Oprah put her focus on literature and self improvement.
Her show began in 1984, in Chicago when she hosted the WLS TV morning show and that show became number one in the whole Chicago. Today her show is one of the most popular shows in the whole world. In 2006, Oprah became one of Barack Obama’s earliest supporters. Her show has also served as a launching for experts like Dr.Phil, Marta Beck etc.
Oprah has also used her show to reveal her struggles with lots of personal issues and she also talks about herself being a survivor of sexual abuse. I am amazed about her strength and I just can’t help it... it makes me cry, every time I hear her story I just can’t.... help it. But she is really strong, believe me she is. Her success has paved the way for other women to follow into her footsteps.
Oprah lived in poverty and she was raised by a single parent, her mother, she became one of the richest women in the world and the thing that moves me about her is that she is a giver, not a taker. She’s done lots of amounts of good, especially when she built a school in South Africa in 2007.
It shocks me that Oprah will end her show in 2011, but her show is going to leave a powerful legacy and a powerful message.
Oprah is a big winner in life and I hope to be as strong as her so that I also can learn how to survive sexual abuse. She is a hero!
