Axel Howerton is a cantankerous and thoroughly misanthropic Canadian author and poet with an abiding love of peanut butter cups, fine coffees and “old man hats”. Best known for his work as an entertainment journalist and freelance music/film critic, Axel is the former long-time Managing Editor of www.eyecrave.net , where he is still a contributor and general pain-in-the-ass. He is also occasionally found face down in a puddle of blood (or whiskey) in his capacity as Associate Editor on the horror fiction quarterly Dark Moon Digest, where he also recently placed his story Blood On The Strip.
Axel is also hard at work on a collection of poetry and several new short stories, as well as putting the finishing touches on his second novel, Hot Sinatra. He would prefer it if his ‘first novel’ was never mentioned again. Seriously. Never again.
His story The Hum is featured in the anthology A Career Guide To Your Job In Hell, alongside the likes of Scott Phillips, Robert Vardeman, Scott S. Phillips, Nathan Long and Victor Milan.
Axel spends most of his time in Calgary, Alberta - abiding the frigid tundra of Canada - usually two steps behind his two brilliant young sons, and a wife that is way out of his league.
